Bobbie Yandle Obituary

Bobbie June Primm Yandle Edisto Island - Bobbie June Primm Yandle died on January 4, 2021, a few weeks shy of her 96th birthday. She lived a life full of love, laughter, family and friends. She will be missed by all. Bobbie was born on January 24, 1925, in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of Dowd Litton Primm and Esther Kendrick Sledge Primm, and sister of Dowd Litton Primm, Jr. She attended Harding High School and North Carolina Women's College. In 1946, she met her future husband, Stewart Watson Yandle. On August 18, 1949, she married him and accompanied him to Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. That began a thirty-six year partnership in ministry. He served as the minister of Presbyterian churches in Norwood, NC, Charlotte, NC, New Orleans, LA, Charleston, SC and Monroe, NC. She taught Sunday School, was a counselor at presbytery camps, and served in many positions in the Women of the Church. She shared her beautiful soprano voice with church choirs for more than 70 years until her knees prevented her from climbing the stairs to the choir loft. After his death in 1985, she served many years as a ruling elder and clerk of Session at First Presbyterian Church in Monroe. Bobbie's life outside the church was quite active. She was a Cub Scout den mother and pack leader and a Girl Scout troop leader. She endured countless hours on the sidelines of baseball, softball, tee ball, football and soccer games played by three generations of her family. She was an accomplished gardener and arranger of flowers. Whether leading hurricane relief efforts after Hurricane Betsy, coordinating the Help in Emergency and Long Range Planning program (HELP) for Charleston Presbytery, or serving as the director of Crisis Ministry at United Way of Union County, service to the least of her brothers and sisters was always her way of life. Her greatest joy was her family. With four children, eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren, she made sure we all stayed in touch. It was hard to find a time when she was happier than when her living room floor was full of cousins in sleeping bags. She was honored to attend the weddings of six of those cousins. She is survived by her children, Susan Yandle Park (John) of Greenville, SC, Timothy Courtney Yandle (Pam) of Stafford, VA, David Stewart Yandle (Patricia) of Edisto Island, SC, Sally Yandle Hartnett (Lawrence) of Charleston, SC; her grandchildren Bryan Christopher Park (Lauren) of Weatherby Lake, MO, Katrina Jane Yandle of Raleigh, NC, Laura Yandle Giovannini (Michael) of Charlotte, NC, Ashley Park Twitchell (Michael) of Greer, SC, Jeffrey Stewart Yandle (Sarah) of North Charleston, SC, Rachel Yandle Svoboda (Andrew) of Wake Forest, NC, Andrew Stewart Hartnett (Leslie) of Atlanta, GA, and Amy Shannon Hartnett of Memphis, TN; and great-grandchildren Madeline and Cecilia Giovannini, Maggie and Grace Park, Claire and Ava Twitchell, and Wesley Yandle; and several cousins, a niece and nephews. The family will have a graveside service in Charlotte on January 9, 2021 at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the music program at the church of your choice.
