Sharon Rogers Obituary
Sharon Rogers WINSTON SALEM, NC - Sharon Holcombe Rogers, 81, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on September 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born May 17, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina, Sharon was the daughter of Shirley and Edward Holcombe III. Her Charleston upbringing instilled in her a deep love of family, faith, and community. The Lowcountry remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she passed that love down to her children and grandchildren. A classic Southern beauty, Sharon was proud to be both a homecoming queen and a debutante in her youth. Throughout her life, she carried herself with the elegance, poise, and warmth that made those titles feel fitting. Sharon lived in many places - Baltimore, Chicago, St. Louis, Charlotte, and Winston-Salem - but she especially treasured her years on Lake Norman in Cornelius, NC. Her home there became a gathering place where children and grandchildren spent summers riding jet skis, paddle boats, and playing in the water. Sharon delighted in creating magic for her family, from festive holiday tables overflowing with food to summer days filled with laughter on the lake. A true Southern belle, Sharon had a gift for hospitality. She loved to garden, decorate, and entertain. Holidays were marked by her lavish feasts, with petit fours and almond-flavored brownies as her signature treats. She never appeared without her hair perfectly curled, her radiant smile, and a gracious word of welcome. Her wit and warmth were evident in her favorite phrases - "Bless their heart" and "Oh my heavens" - which became endearing trademarks of her presence. Faith was the cornerstone of Sharon's life. A devout Christian, she was active in her church communities wherever she lived, most notably serving multiple roles at Lake Norman Baptist Church. She poured her heart into Bible study, fellowship, and service, embodying the call to serve others with joy. Beyond her love for hosting, Sharon enjoyed quiet pastimes that brought her comfort and joy. She loved to read, play solitaire, and spend evenings watching her favorite films and shows. Among her favorites were Steel Magnolias, The Godfather series, and Yellowstone. She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Rick), Christine (Matthew), Marcia; her sister, Nancy (Steve); her brother, Edward (Carolyn); and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Rogers; her daughter, Tara Rogers Bright; her son, Scott Rogers; and her parents. Sharon also had a lifelong love of animals and welcomed many cherished dogs into her family. We imagine them all joyfully greeting her in heaven. Sharon will be remembered as a woman of faith, beauty, and joy. Her infectious laughter, radiant smile, and genuine interest in others made everyone she encountered feel valued and loved. She leaves behind a legacy of hospitality, devotion, and steadfast belief in the Lord. Funeral services will be held at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, Clemmons, North Carolina, on Monday, September 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. "Well done, good and faithful servant... enter into the joy of your Lord." - Matthew 25:23
