Grief can be so hard during the holidays, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one this holiday season.

Shelby, Janet, Billy Ray, and entire family. Please know that we miss Ray as well. I think at times we will live forever and not die, but we all are going to do this one day. Shelby, I feel for you, not having someone there to talk to or eat with or whatever. The mountains, yes. Ray, Nellie, Bertha, Darren, others all together again. Live life to the fullest and be prepared to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in a twinkling of an eye.

It has been almost a year now and it still hurts to think about Dad being gone. All of the good thoughts from people he met and touched have been wonderful. He was the best father a kid could hope to have, even when he painted the team's football helmets and they turned out pink! Dad, Connnie, the kids and I are missing you and there isn't a day that goes by when you are not thought of fondly. You will have to work on the car by yourself until I get there and then I will give you a hand. I love you, thanks to you and mom for always being there.

Dear Shelby, Ray and you have been friends to my family for many years. I will never forget the trip we made to North Carolina to get the boat, which Ray did not forget either. Ray and I talked about it when we came to your house, before he went to be with the Lord Jesus. Now Ray and John are in Glory where there is no more sickness and no more pain. We love you Renate, Melanie and John Jr.

I didn't know Ray very well, but the light he brought to your life is undeniable and the void he has left brings tears to my eyes. You have helped me so much with the knowledge you have given to me from your lifetime with Ray, the experiences you have both had. Thank you for that, and I hope that Christ can bring you peace until it is time for us all to meet together again. My prayers are with you, and my help is yours whenever and whatever you may need.

R.I.P. GRANDPA...

Ray kirkendall was my grandfather and unfortunately due to medical circumstances I wasn't able to attend the funeral. I wanted to thank everyone who attended the funeral and the people who have the family in their thoughts and prayers in this time of need. We all know deep down inside hes having a great time with the lord right now and is no longer suffering.. We love and miss ya paw paw..

Sorry to hear about Ray's passing to be with the LORD. Ruth and I are praying for you and the family. There are no words that can take away the hurt for now. I have found that in time the hurt that you feel now will turn into good memories of the past time that you and Ray shared together. I hope this will be an encourgement through the present time. Only the LORD can feel the void in your heart. Seek him and he will be there.

we will miss ray very much. i will think of him every time i go fishing. he was a wonderful grandfather to jeremy and jennifer and treated alex and dee if they were grandkids too. he always will be remembered by me as a dad for he always treated me as a son.the boys said be strong maw maw and we hopr to see you soon.

Shelby, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. One of my favorite memories of Ray is when I broke my toe in Germany. He fixed me up a little "momento" which was a beer coaster bottom, the handle of a large screwdriver taped to a splint. He had painted the prettiest toe nail on it. Even tho I haven't seen you for years, it is sad for me to know that he is longer is this world. Take care of yourselves.

Aunt Shelby and Family,

Uncle Ray was one of the greatest Uncle's. He will always be missed but I know that he is in a better place now. Knowing him the way I did I figure he is up in heaven with grandpa telling jokes and picking on each other. I just want you all to know that I have been thinking about you and have kept each of you in my thoughts and prayers.

I met Ray through Shelby, and like Shelby he was a wonderful person to be around.

He could always make you laugh no matter what.
