Betty Setzer Obituary

SETZER, Betty GREEN POND- Mrs. Betty Kearney Setzer, 70, of 192 Lazy Bee Lane, died Friday, December 29, 2006, at Roper Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, December 31, 2006 at The Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home, Walterboro Chapel. Entombment will follow in Glendale Memorial Chapel Mausoleum. Mrs. Setzer was born September 27, 1936 in Franklin County, NC and was the daughter of the late Alexander Kearney and Lizzie Woodleif Kearney. She retired from the North Charleston Sewer District, where she worked for 21 years and was the assistant district manager. She married Robert Thomas Setzer in 1953. They formerly lived in Summerville for 17 years, before moving to Green Pond in 1981. She was a member of the SC Water Pollution Control Association and the Water Pollution Control Federation. She received the Arthur Sidney Bedell Award for Personal Service, the WPCA Certificates of Appreciation for Service, the Charleston YWCA-Tribute to Women Twin Award, and the SPD Association Certificate of Appreciation for Service. Surviving are: her husband, Robert Thomas Setzer of Green Pond; children, Steven Setzer of Moncks Corner, Cynthia Setzer Thomas and her husband John of St. Helena, and Laura A. Parks and her husband Earl of Elgin; sisters, Evelyn Harris and Levey Senter, both of Franklington, NC; grandchildren, John Thomas, Patrick Thomas, Michael Setzer, Jeffrey Setzer, Anna Grey, and Bryan Bowie; and great-grandchildren, Jessica Grey, Kayla Grey, and Matthew Grey. She was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Brown. Family and friends may call Saturday evening from 6 until 8 at THE BRICE W.
