Betty Young Scott Charleston - Betty Young Scott, 87, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of James Joseph Scott, Jr. entered into eternal rest Monday, July 1, 2019. Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in The Chapel at Bishop Gadsden, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way at 11:00 a.m. Interment, St. Lawrence Cemetery. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Betty was born July 25, 1931 in Jacksonville, Florida, daughter of the late Robert Mason Young and Ruby Christine Miller Young. She attended the University of Florida, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and was a former member of St. Philip's Church. Betty is survived by her daughter, Anne Scott Wallace of Charlotte, NC; son, Robert Young Scott (Ruth) of Charleston, SC; daughter-in-law, Susan Ashley Martindale (Barry) of McClellanville, SC; eight grandchildren: Ashley Scott Boyce (Andrew), James Joseph Scott IV (Melissa), Katherine Elizabeth Scott, Lillian Scott Greene (Gregory), Robert Young Scott, Jr., Caroline Buchanan Wallace, Amelia English Wallace and Elisabeth Scott Wallace; five great-grandchildren: Frances and Henry Boyce, Effie Scott, and Eleanor and Louisa Greene; and sister, Connie Young Likes (Creighton) and their children, Christine Zollweg (Joshua) and Dr. Creighton E. Likes III (Christa). She was preceded in death by her son, James Joseph Scott III. The family would like to thank the staff and clinicians of Bishop Gadsden for their care and concern for Betty during the last years of her life.
