Betty Reed Obituary

Betty Viola Reed September 17, 1930 - September 19th, 2025 Betty Reed was born in Shedd, Oregon to Clarence Windom and Florence Lida Ivey Windom. She was fourth in line of eight children. She lived in the Corvallis-Albany area all of her life except for a short time when she followed her husband Jim to Kemmerer Wyoming for a job. They lived there for approximately a year. Betty loved to have a garden in her younger years and had many house plants. She would go hunting and fishing and to The Cabin with Jim often. When Jim was having trouble driving and wanted to go hunting she would drive him around herself. She loved having family around, especially her grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandkids. If she didn't get to see some as much as she would like it it didn't mean she didn't think about them often. Betty married James (Jim/Colum) Reed, the love of her life on May 28, 1948 in Corvallis Oregon. Betty was preceded in death by Jim, son James Leroy Reed of Corvallis, her parents, sister Louise and three brothers (Doug, Loren and Lee(Butch)). Survivors include sons Ronald Reed Sr of Albany, Daniel G Reed of Sunriver and daughter Patricia Marie Blanshan of Lebanon, and daughter-in-law Barbara Reed of Corvallis. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Betty was proud to be able to live independently until her last day, with frequent visits and daily phone calls from her children and grandchildren. The Family would like to acknowledge grandson Shane Blanshan for his ceaseless help whenever grandma needed him. He was her right hand man doing yard work, cleaning her house, and helping in all the ways she needed these last few years. He was often heard saying 'who else has their Grandma as their best friend?". Viewing will be held Monday September 29, 2025 at Huston-Jost Funeral Home 86 West Grant St; Lebanon, OR from 4 to 7pm. Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Twin Oaks Memorial Garden 34275 Riverside Drive S.W.; Albany, OR.
