Betty Reed Obituary

Betty Reed N. CHARLESTON - Betty entered into eternal rest on December 31, 2023. She was born March 2, 1925, in Batesburg, SC, the daughter of John Eunice Rikard and Nettie Geneva Risinger Rikard. She is predeceased by her five brothers; Lester E Rikard, Troy N Rikard, Raymond M Rikard and John E Rikard. Also by her only sister and best friend in life, Kathryne Janet Rikard Gray. She is survived by her two sons, George Michael Reed, Stephen Craig Reed; her granddaughter, Ladonna M Reed Gaines (Russell); her great-grands, Eliana, Aryana and Amelia Gains all of whom she loved dearly along with numerous nieces and nephews. Betty worked for the US Government in Civil Service for over 35 years with a short time in Washington, DC, at the State Department and the remaining years for the Department of The Navy in Charleston. After retiring she did some travelling with Janet to places such as Canada, Alaska and Hawaii. Betty found a passion for volunteer work along with Janet at Roper Hospital. Betty had over 3700 hours documented in the Roper system. She will always be in our hearts and is sorely missed every day. There will be a celebration of life for her on March 2nd, which would have been her 99th birthday, at Ms. Rosa's on Sam Rittenburg Highway from 3-5 PM. All family and friends are welcome.
