Betty Partenheimer Obituary

Betty Partenheimer EDISTO ISLAND - Betty Stokes Partenheimer, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, joined the Church Triumphant on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. She was born in 1928 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Quinnie Idella Kirby and John Ellison Stokes. She was the youngest of three sisters (Vivian Fidler and Della Ruth Hall). She attended Louisiana State University and remained a loyal LSU Tiger fan. Betty retired from a career with The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) headquarters in Louisville, Kentucky. She lived a full life in service of her Lord and Savior, her family, her church and community for 96 years. She was especially devoted to the Presbyterian Women, the Stitch Sisters Prayer Shawl Ministry which she started at her church, as well as the Edisto Island Food Pantry of which she was one of the founders. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, William Penn "Bill" Partenheimer; as well as her parents; sisters; and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Faith Whitney. She is survived by her children; George Gardner (Jerri) Wilkes; Rebecca (Dwight) Yarbrough, Nancy (John) Garrett; Will (Angie) Partenheimer; grandchildren: Kathryn (Teddy) Whitney; Sarah R. Yarbrough; James (Sarah) Yarbrough; Laura (Stephen) Wilkes-D'Amato.; Rachel (Steven) Epps; Mirabella Garrett, Kayle (Michael) Scalise; and great-grandchildren: Thomas Yarbrough; Hollis Whitney; Millie, Mollie, and Marlee Epps; and Oliver Scalise. Betty's family is especially grateful for the angels of ComForCare who cared for her, allowing her to stay in her home till her last days, as well as the wonderful staff at Gadsden Glen and Crescent Hospice. A celebration of Betty's life will be held on Saturday, November 23, at 11:00 am at The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island.
