Betty Jane (Brown) Mansfield

After many faithful years of service to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Betty Jane (Brown) Mansfield, age 86, passed into His loving care on September 12, 2011, in Crystal River, FL.

Born in Hockessin, DE, Betty first attended a one-room school in Hockessin and graduated from Conrad HS. She met and married Joseph Mansfield in 1954. Betty worked for the Wilmington Police Department for 20 years. Upon her leaving there, she was commended on her cheerfulness, friendliness, and efficiency. She and Joe retired in 1973 to Crystal River, Florida where they built a home. Betty worked for the Crystal River Police Department and as a receptionist for a Doctor in the area. She faithfully attended the First Assembly of God Church of Crystal River and had previously attended Calvary Assembly of God Church. She used her talents of playing piano and organ at the services of both churches. She could play most anything, but the old traditional church hymns were her specialty. She enjoyed the company of her dogs over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe on August 19, 1994.

She is survived by cousins: Charles McAllister and his wife, Marlene, Fran and her husband, Jack Quinn, Pearl Jordan, Al Skinner and his wife Charolette, other extended family and by dear friends Debbie Nelson and Sandra and Joe Brown of Crystal River.

The family would like to thank the staff of Nature Coast Lodge and Hospice of Citrus County, for all the wonderful care that they gave to Betty.

A graveside services will be held on Friday, September 16, at 2:30 pm, at Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave & DuPont Rd in Wilmington, DE and a Memorial Service will be held in Crystal River at a future date. For online condolences visit
