Betty Koester Obituary

Betty Koester CHARLESTON - Betty Barfield Koester, 76, of Charleston, the wife of William J. Koester, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 26, 2010. She was born in Johnsonville, SC on September 4, 1933, the daughter of Dewey and Lucy Powell Barfield. Betty loved Braves baseball and her two puppy's, Jazz and Nakita. She was the true foundation of her family, that she adored more than anything in this world. Always present for every event and need, Betty was a true caretaker. She is survived by her loving husband, William J. Koester, Sr. a daughter, Beth Lockliear and her husband Robert; a son, William "Billy" J. Koester, Jr.; five grandchildren, Jay Henderson, Randy DuPont and his wife Rachel, Megan DuPont, Kenneth Lockliear, Kelsey Lockliear; six great-grandchildren, Cinnamin, Tanner, Nick, Emily Grace, Braije, Kaylee; two sisters, Henrietta Guyton, Joyner Carne and a brother, Cleveland Barfield. Betty was predeceased by a daughter, Faye DuPont, a grandson, Jeffrey DuPont and a sister, Nancy Warren. The relatives and friends of Betty Barfield Koester are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Charleston. The burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Arrangements are by the JAMES A.
