Betty Knight Obituary
Betty H. Knight, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on October 12, 1930, in Macon, Georgia, Betty was the cherished daughter of Robert and Mary Hudson. A proud graduate of Summerville High School, Betty went on to build a meaningful career as a dental assistant, where her gentle spirit and steady hands brought comfort to countless patients over the years. Betty married the love of her life, the late Losse F. Knight, and together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. A devoted wife and nurturing mother, Betty's family was always her highest priority. She found great joy in cooking meals for loved ones and spending time in her garden, where she cultivated not only beautiful blooms but lasting memories. A faithful and active member of Knightsville United Methodist Church, Betty served her congregation with warmth and dedication. Her beautiful voice graced the church choir for many years, a reflection of both her love for music and her deep-rooted faith. Betty's legacy is one of kindness, service, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her strong nature, her deep devotion to family and community, and the joy she brought to those around her. She is survived by her siblings: Ann H. Kennedy and Fern H. Youmans; her loving children: Furman Knight (Jo) and Elaine Schildroth (Michael); her grandchildren: Shawn Cook (Tracy), Losse F. Knight, III "Trey" (Heather), William H. Hardy (Missy), Natalie M. Cymbalisty (Jarred), Christina Knight, Christy Lanier, Michelle Nicholson (Jonathan), and Jill Mosny (Daniel); as well as her great grandchildren: Elaina, Cooper, Miles, Mason, Daniel, Emily, Mattie Lee, Henley, Makenzie, Ethan, Jordan, Reagan, Logan, and Rylann. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby G. Knight (Lynn); her loving husband; as well as her granddaughter, Lillian Hardy Toy. A visitation of family and friends will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 9am to 10am at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. The graveside service will be held at Dorchester Memory Gardens beginning at 10:30am.
