Betty Bunch Obituary

Betty Jones Bunch, 83, of Moncks Corner, SC, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 6, 2025, at her residence. Born March 2, 1942, in Ellijay, GA, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison Jones and Mae Harper Jones. Betty dedicated 20 years of her life as a caregiver at the Child Development Center at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station. She also had a notable career in the ID Department for the FBI. A devoted member of the St. Johns Bethel Baptist Church, she served as the Church secretary, taught Training Union, and sang in the choir. She was also an active member of the WMU at the Church. In her leisure time, Betty enjoyed reading, flower gardening, baking, and traveling with the Carolina Wanderers Camping Club. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, B. Melvin Bunch; her daughter, Christenna B. Chaffin and her husband Brian of Eutawville; her son, Jason M. Bunch and his wife Michelle of Cross; and her cherished grandchildren, Lauren Freeman Kessler (Andy), Kyleigh Marie Bunch, Ashlynn Layne Bunch, and Jason M. 'Jase' Bunch, II. Her funeral will be 2:00 PM Saturday afternoon, September 13, 2025, in the St. Johns Bethel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM until the hour of service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the St. Johns Bethel Baptist Church, 136 St. Johns Bethel Rd., Moncks Corner, SC 29461, in memory of Mrs. Bunch.
