To the family of Mrs. Berry, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. What a charming and graceful lady Mrs. Betty was. She was so talented and such a very elegant lady. I enjoyed telling her a story that involved her father (Mr. Dan) and my Grandmother (Mrs. F.L. Sweatman). As a little boy I remember spending every Saturday morning in St. George with my Grandmother. And If I behaved, Grandma Sweatman would take me to the drug store and buy me a Real Home Made Chocolate Milk Shake. Well, this one Saturday morning, Grandma took me by the drug store, ordered my milk shake, and gave the boy at the counter the customary 70 Cents, only to be told the price had gone up to 90 Cents. Grandma proceed to dress that counter boy down because she was short of change, and then Mr. Dan stepped in and paid the other 20 Cents, telling the counter boy "Do give Mrs. Sweatman that Chocolate Milk Shake for her little grandboy". Grandma and I then sat in a booth Mr. Dan and the two of them chatted while I consumed that delicious Milk Shake. Boy, I was SO VERY GRATEFUL to Mr. Dan that day!!!! My mom used to buy flowers for her yard from Mr. Dan. Many memories of seeing him around St. George. And many happy memories of chatting with Mrs. Berry at DCHS functions. She will be happily remembered, and definitely missed. And the day will come that we get to see all of them again. Oh, what a happy day that will be!!!!
