Beth Gibson Obituary

Just thinking about Beth and did not realize she had already left for heaven. What a lovely, uplifting, resilient, down to earth lady. I always seemed to run into her at just the right time to get a trinket of her wisdom and humor. She was a person I wanted to rub off on me. I can't begin to say enough nice things about her.
I know y'all all miss your sweet Momma.

I worked with Beth as a young lawyer with the Solicitor's Office many years ago. Beth was very kind, patient with others, impeccably stylish -- beautiful inside and out. My deepest condolences to her family and the countless others who remember her fondly and mourn her passing. Rest in peace.

Dear Gibson family, I have such wonderful memories of your mother when she ruled the roost on Woodward Road. Spending the night at your house was an adventure - whether it was going to the drive in theater in our pajamas or having leftover steak for breakfast! As an adult I saw your mother in her powerful role as an advocate for the less fortunate. In recent years I got reacquainted with Beth as we took bridge lessons together and saw each other at Sunday mass.
I know you will all miss her. May God hold her in his loving embrace and may he offer you all his comfort in this sad time.

Your mother was a strong, independent, vibrant, and loving woman. She was a wonderful role model and part of the village who raised us in the neighborhood.

Dear Gibson family- I really did love your mother. Whenever I saw her, we were long lost friends. She was also such a comfort to me in her role at the solicitors office.

Dear Elizabeth, Mac, Anne and Thomas, Please accept my most sincere condolences for the loss of your dear mother. She was always a delight to see because she was so honestly and compassionately straight forward. Unlike other friends' mothers, there seemed to be no generation gap with Beth, and I had many interesting conversations over the years, including one time long ago when I was feeling sorry for myself and she said, "come on Michael, get your act together" which turned out to be the best advice I could have had. We will all miss her, but never forget her.

To Mac, Anne, Thomas and family, Please know we send our deepest sympathy for the loss of your Mom. She was one of the strongest southern ladies around. Your mother was a staple in my early years at Charleston Day School. She was ever sweet to we kids, and put on some great birthday parties. I´ll always remember her warm smile.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your wonderful and kind mother, grandmother and sister. As I told Thomas and Mac every chance I got, she was truly one of my favorite people. Please know that in death, she will light up every room in heaven, just as she did on earth.

I consider it a double privilege to have worked with Beth in the political realm and later the legal community. She worked across cultural and racial lines to improve her beloved Charleston during those decades of transition and in later years. Her love for persons as individuals was unparalleled and authentically reflected in a lifetime of community service.

She was a fine lady who inspired me to be my best self (Woodward Rd days). I’m grateful she was in my life. Her personal strength, wit, and intelligence always amazed me. My deepest condolences to the Gibson family.

I always enjoyed seeing Mrs. Gibson at Mass at Blessed Sacrament. She appreciated her Catholic faith, enjoyed conversation, and loved her family. Prayers for her family!
