Remembering BESSIE STEPHENS ALLEN-HOLMES DON'T LET CANCER WIN Jan. 14,1957- Aug. 11, 2016 An annual scholarship has been established at South Carolina State University (SCSU), Orangeburg, SC, in memory of the late Bessie Stephens Allen-Holmes, it has been almost 10 years since her death. Ms. Allen Holmes also served as Miss SC State University from 1978-79. Ms. Allen-Holmes also taught at Wando High School, Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Burke High School, Charleston, SC. She succumbed to pancreatic cancer, a " silent killer," in August 2016. She served as a 23-year educator (Family Consumer Science major); and was a fashionista and community leader. This scholarship has not been operational due to a lack of funds to fully launch. Please donate to this memorial scholarship fund. This scholarship will help needy students attending SCSU-and leave a legacy that authenticates that Cancer Didn't Win!
