Bess Mitchell Obituary

MITCHELL, Bess Bess Mitchell, 85, of Goose Creek, the wife of Frank Mitchell, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at a local long term care facility. Born September 29, 1922 in South Hampton, New York, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas Velmachos and Helen Nicolettes Velmachos. Bess attended college in New York and retired as assistant vice president of a Chase Manhattan Bank in New York. She was a member the Greek Orthodox Church of Holy Trinity, Charleston. Bess is survived by her husband, Frank; a son: George F. Mitchell, Sr. and his wife Mary Ann of Tuxedo, NY; a daughter: Georgia Carol Phillips of Snow Hill, NC; a brother: George N. Velmachos of Wading River, Long Island, NY; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held today, 11AM on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at the Greek Orthodox Church of Holy Trinity, 30 Race Street, Charleston, with the Reverend Father John L. Johns presiding.
