Bernardus Wilhemus Theodoor Visscher Mt. Pleasant - Bernardus Wilhemus Theodoor Visscher, 76, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Sandy Black Visscher entered into eternal rest Monday, September 10, 2018. His funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018, in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL, 232 Calhoun Street, at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends Wednesday in the Downtown Chapel one hour prior to service. Bernardus was born May 25, 1942, in, Hengelo (O), The Netherlands, son of the late William Visscher and Marie Wilbrink Visscher. After working for the Hotel Excelsior Cologne, The Browns and Savoy Hotels London, the Ritz Hotel Paris and Intercontinental Hotel Caracas, he came to the United States in 1972. His 50 year career in the hospitality industry included executive positions with premier properties in the southeast: Amelia Island Plantation (FL), Wild Dunes (SC), Kiawah Island (SC), The Royal Sonesta Hotel (New Orleans), Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort (FL) and The Harbourview Inn (Charleston, SC). He retired from the French Quarter Inn (Charleston, SC) January 31, 2012. Bernardus is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter-in-law and grandchildren: Christian, Nathalie, Owan and Emilie Visscher of Minneola, FL; step-daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren: Ashley, Sam, Clint Miller of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Lilly Miller and Jake Lucas of Brooklyn, NY; brother-in-law, Andreas Wathne of Halden, Norway; brother-in-law, Ronnie Black; niece, Michelle Black; and great-niece, Karmyn Bligen, all of Spartanburg. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anky Wathne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Bernard to the Trident Area Agency on Aging, 4450 Leeds Place West, N.
