KENNEDY, Bernadette Bernadette Soubeyroux Kennedy, 87, beloved wife of Austin John Kennedy, Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away October 28, 2008 at Hospice of Charleston. Bernadette was born March 20, 1921 in Charleston, the daughter of the late Frank and Blanche Soubeyroux. She graduated from Bishop England High School in 1938 and Saint Francis Xavier's Training School for Nurses, Charleston, SC in 1941. Bernadette enjoyed her life as a Charlestonian, Navy wife, devoted mother of six children, and nurse. Her life revolved around her family and she cherished her time with them. She gave unselfishly to her children, family, and friends; always with a loving and positive spirit. Bernadette was a member of the St. Francis Nurses Alumni Association and the Quis Qui. She was a devout Roman Catholic who attended Sacred Heart, St Mary's, The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Charleston, SC, and Christ Our King Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Bernadette will be deeply missed by her husband of 63 years, Captain (USN, Ret.) Austin J. Kennedy Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Bonnie Kennedy of Charleston; son, Austin J. Kennedy III and wife Ann of Lorton, VA; son, Stephen Kennedy and wife Mary Lou of Isle of Palms, SC; daughter, Julie Kaster and husband Dean of Bel Air, MD; son, Michael Kennedy and wife Linda of Waxahachie, TX; son, Kevin Kennedy and wife Deb of Isle of Palms, SC; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Visitation with family and friends 5:00 PM 7:00 PM, Friday, October 31, 2008 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Chapel. Funeral Mass 2:00 PM Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Charleston, followed by graveside service at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
