Benjamin Terrell Obituary

Benjamin Campbell Terrell WINSTON SALEM, NC - BENJAMIN CAMPBELL TERRELL, Winston Salem, North Carolina, February 7, 1964, the son of Ann Campbell Terrell Mayor and the late Alva Lee Terrell. Ben's absence leaves a hole in the hearts of the many family and friends whose lives he touched, particularly his wife of 26 years, JoAnn Bristow Terrell, and his sons, Benjamin Lee Terrell and Christopher Alexander Terrell and his younger brother, Cape, who was like a son. In addition to his wife and sons; his mother-in-law, Rose Bristow; and his brothers, Cape, Chris, Tracy, and Ken Terrell, survive him. Ben is also survived by his beloved Uncle and Aunts, Andrew and Jackie Terrell and Susan and Dickie Whitten Ben attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC) on a tennis scholarship and graduated in 1990 with a history degree. He later established PPE, Inc. where he built a successful and thriving sales operation across the Southeast United States. Ben enjoyed playing tennis, watching UNC basketball games, and working in his yard. He loved walks on the beach, taking his family out to dinner, and howling with his canine companions, Scooby and Soldia. Above all, Ben cherished his best friend and soul mate, JoAnn, and their two sons. He was a devoted father who took great pride in watching Alex play basketball and in eating everything Little Ben cooked. All who knew Ben enjoyed listening to him tell jokes and stories. All who loved him will forever remember the roar of his laughter and his unforgettable smile. Ben was a generous compassionate person who unselfishly helped all those in need around him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ben's memory to The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, NC 27710 or Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mount Pleasant, SC 29464. A Celebration of Life for Ben will take place on Saturday, March 17 at Alhambra Hall from 4:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Visit our guestbook at www.legacy.com/obituaries/ charleston

Ben and I grew up playing tennis together at Olde Providence Racquet Club in Charlotte NC. We were very good friends during our teen years and lost touch once we started college. I have very fond memories of Ben and especially that huge smile he had. I'm so sorry for your loss and he'll be remembered fondly.

JoAnn, Ben, Alex and Family,
An Angel on Earth, now one in Heaven. Ben was one of a kind. Selfless, kind, witty, loving and courageous. His smile was infectious.
I am so sorry for your unimaginable loss. I pray God brings you strength and peace only HE can provide. Love you all.
