Reading Ben's obituary reminded me yet again what a vibrant, interesting, and committed life he led! He was one of my earliest friends on moving to Charleston and I will always remember our fun tennis matches and afternoon cocktails on Kiawah Island. He was warm, generous and kind and had a sparkly twinkle in his eyes. He loved the out of doors (I well remember trudging through the plough mud casting for shrimp with Ben) and casual nature of life on Kiawah but he could dress to the nines as the most dapper of aristocrats for a Charleston cocktail party.
The Charleston Library Society and the Charleston Day School will be forever indebted to him and personally, I am just so happy that our paths on this earth crossed.
My deepest sympathy and love go out to his entire family.
