Benjamin Baker Obituary

Benjamin Logan Baker BOCA RATON, FL - Benjamin Logan Baker died peacefully at his home in Boca Raton, Fla. on July 16, 2012. He was preceded in death by his son Neal I Baker. He was born in Charleston, S. C. on October 25, 1926, to Rebecca and Morris Baker. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pearl H Baker, and his daughters, Barbara Baker of Santa Fe, N.M. and Debra Jones (Dr. Webster Jones) of Georgetown. S.C. and daughter in law Elizabeth Baker of Charleston, S.C. and grandchildren Etai Timna (Jodi), Noa Alper (Jeremy), Clayton Jones, Eric Jones, Amanda Baker, and Bradley Baker and three great grandchildren Kyla and Sylvie Alper and Sophia Timna and his sister Ruth Sliverman of Sullivans Island, S.C. He was a long time resident of Moncks Corner, S. C. where he operated Moncks Corner Variety and further engaged in the operation of land development, construction and mortgage financing. He later returned to Charleston where he continued operating his real estate and financing operations under the name of Southco Inc. and continued to operate his company after his retirement and move to Boca Raton, Fla. He graduated from Charleston High School in the class of 1943. He attended the University of S.C. until he enlisted in the US Army in WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. During his life he was active in the Masons, Shriners, Bnai Brith, United Jewish Appeal, Israeli Bonds, and Synagogue Emanu-El. His philanthropic generosity anonymously assisted many. When he moved to Florida his generosity continued. He was a member of Temple Beth El. His funeral will take place Thursday at 1 pm at Temple Beth El in Boca Rotan, Fla. Dear Pearl, Barbara, Debbie and family,
We were so saddened to learn of Benny's passing. Benny was a wonderful and caring friend and we loved him dearly.
We will miss him but we will always cherish the happy memories we have of Benny and the Baker family. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with all of you.

Dear Pearl and family,
My hearfelt sympathy to all of you at this time. I am so blessed that just a few weeks ago I was visiting with you all for the day and at least spent some time with both of you.
May happy memories sustain you through this time.
