Bayly Ringold Ebner HOLLYWOOD - Bayly Ringold Ebner, born in 1933 in Charleston, SC, died at home with his wife and son present in Hollywood, SC, on the evening of July 4 of lung cancer. The family was aided by Roper Hospice. He was the son of Joseph William Ebner and Marion (nicknames Marti and Mittie) Emerson Massenburg Ebner of Hollywood, SC. He had three siblings, all predeceased: David Owen Ebner, Joseph L. Ebner, and Marion Ebner Sottile. He is a graduate of Carlysle Military Academy and Clemson College (1955). Bayly served his Lord and his community in the Singles Ministry as the Director of Singles at Ashley River Baptist Church and later as Director of Singles for the Charleston Baptist Association. In the 1960s, he was involved in politics and helped establish the Republican Party in Charleston County and other parts of South Carolina. He ran for the House of Representatives twice during that time and was appointed to head the U.S. Census Bureau. He was a lifetime member of the Jacksonboro Masonic Lodge. He owned Clementia Nursery in Hollywood and later worked for a brief period at The Citadel. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Kathryn Renau Ebner, and his devoted son, Bayly, Jr. from a previous marriage. His family invites family and friends to join them at a Celebration of Life service at Ashley River Baptist Church on Savannah Highway on Monday, July 14, at 2:00 P.M. Preparations are made by Palmetto Cremation Society and there will be a private Interment at Christ-St. Paul's Church Cemetery for the immediate family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Bayly has requested that donations be made payable to "Friends of Bonnie Doone" and mailed in care of Ms. Nan Busby at Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29407.
