Barry Cooke Obituary

Barry Marshall Cooke MT. PLEASANT - Barry Marshall Cooke, 80, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Cynthia Jane Lemmond Cooke, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 2, 2025. His Funeral Service is scheduled for Friday, June 6, 2025, at 1:00 pm, in the J. Henry Stuhr Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, located at 1494 Mathis Ferry Road. Friends are invited to gather for visitation an hour prior to the service. Born on January 9, 1945, in Charlotte, North Carolina, Barry was the oldest child born to Harry Lee Cooke and Ruth Summers Cooke. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He went on to study architecture at Central Piedmont College, and gained membership into the AIA. Barry and Cynthia planted their roots and raised their family in Greenville, SC. They found their home as members of the Greenville ARP Church, where Barry served as a Deacon and an Elder for a number of years. He served on the building committee, helped oversee countless basketball teams and always showed up when people needed him the most. Barry was a man who made you feel important, even if he didn't catch your name. He loved fishing with his friends, traveling with his family and eating at various buffets/belly bars. Barry is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Cooke, and their two children, Jennifer Cooke Smith (William) and Benjamin Wesley Cooke, Sr. (Brandi), all of Mount Pleasant, SC. He cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, William Edmund Smith III, Cyrus Walton Smith, Anna Clark Mackenzie Cooke, Benjamin Wesley Cooke, Jr. and Tallulah Jane Cooke, who brought joy and laughter into his life. He also leaves behind siblings, Donald Lee Cooke (Pam) of Charlotte, NC, and Charles Michael Cooke (Lynda) of Mount Pleasant, SC, and multiple nieces, nephews and countless friends.
