Barbara Downs Rush SUMMERVILLE - Barbara Downs Rush, 79, of Summerville, died Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Trident Medical Center. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Ms. Rush on Thursday, September 9, 2010, at 11 o'clock at James A. Dyal Funeral Home Chapel, 303 S. Main Street, Summerville. Burial will be private. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 10 o'clock until the hour of service. Ms. Rush was born May 12, 1931, in Beaufort, SC, daughter of the late Clarence Robert Downs and Thelma Ruth Lee Downs. Ms. Rush was an avid reader and quilter. She was very involved in the Summerville Baptist Church and charity work. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be truly missed. She retired from the Coastal Center, Ladson as Supervisor. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Survivors include two daughters and three sons: Kathleen Rush (Timothy Nunn) of West Chester, PA, Neta Rush of Summerville, Manly H. Rush, III (Fawn) of Summerville, Robert Rush of Santee and Paul Rush of Summerville, three grandchildren; Christine Kalberg (Todd) of Duluth, MN, Michael Rush (Mary) of Mt. Pleasant and Manly Rush, IV of Summerville and three great-grandchildren and one sister; Cora Lee Quick (Don) of Columbia. She was predeceased by one son; Dale Rush and one sister; Edith Blanchard.
