Barbara G. (Hoffman) Mann CHARLESTON - Barbara Gilbert (Hoffman) Mann, 80, of Charleston, South Carolina, beloved wife of the late David William Mann, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at the Bishop Gadsden Chapel, 1 Bishop Gadsden Way. A reception will follow immediately in the Myers Hall Activity Room, adjacent to the chapel. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Northwoods Chapel. Born September 30, 1944, in Mount Vernon, New York, Barbara was the daughter of the late George Fletcher Hoffman and the late Helen Gilbert Hoffman. An exceptional student, she skipped two full grades in the highly competitive Ridgewood, NJ school system and went on to graduate from St. Lawrence University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the nation's oldest academic honor society - all while being the youngest member of her class. A pioneer in her field, Barbara opened the first female-owned CPA firm in Asheville, North Carolina in the early 1980s, and was a driving force behind numerous women in business initiatives. Her professional accomplishments were matched by her deep and abiding faith. Barbara was actively involved in the Episcopal Church, both nationally and locally at Grace Cathedral in Charleston. Barbara cherished her summers in Lavallette, New Jersey, where she was a long-time member of the Lavallette Yacht Club. She was an enthusiastic sailor and devoted volunteer, sharing her time and talents generously. Barbara will be remembered for her brilliance, kindness, and generosity of spirit. She touched the lives of many and leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, leadership, and faith. She is survived by her son, Charles Mann (Robin) of Monroe, NC; daughter, Elizabeth Fry (Christopher) of Mount Pleasant, SC; and five grandchildren: Abigail Tickle, Chloe Mann, George Tickle, Griffin Mann, and Dow Fry. She is also survived by her siblings: John Hoffman (Cori) of Fair Haven, NJ; Nancy Seggel (Peter) of Lavallette, NJ; and Kathy Dierking (Michael) of Greenville, SC.
