Barbara Hines Obituary

Barbara Jean Hines CHARLESTON - Barbara Jean Hines, 75, of Charleston entered into eternal rest on August 7, 2014 surrounded by family and friends. Barbara was born on October 19, 1938 in Barnwell, SC to William A. and Grace V. Towne. She graduated from Chicora High School in 1956. She married her husband Vernon in 1957 and worked at South Carolina National Bank. She enjoyed teaching and began working at North Charleston High School with the remedial reading and English class. She also worked with Park Circle Elementary and volunteered in the PTA and Athletic Booster Club. Barbara also worked as a church secretary for Holmes Avenue Baptist Church. She enjoyed sporting events, travelling and attending movies with the "Golden Girls". She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Hoff (Michael); one son, Bunky Hines (Cheri); two granddaughters, Ciera Hoff (John) and Brittany Hines; three grandsons, Ryan, Bryce, and Bret Hines; three brothers, Willie Towne, James Towne, and Charles Towne. She is also survived by her life-long friend, Dot Pace and one future great-grandson, Zane Alexander Robertson. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Hines. Visitation will take place on Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. The funeral service for Barbara will take place on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. in Carolina Memorial Chapel with burial following immediately after in Carolina Memorial Park. Bunky and Cheri, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. What a wonderful lady she was. I know how much she will be missed by everyone but especially you and Bucky. Everyone will miss her because she was just that kind of a lady. She is in God's loving arms and what a great place to be. She'll still be with you don't doubt that Love and prayers to the whole family. We will miss her but think of her seeing your Dad and others who have gone on. The Lord has yall in the palm of his hand . Stay there til you feel like coming back down to talk with everyone. I pray his loving hand will hold you til then.
