Barbara Delores Jackson Gordon N. CHARLESTON - Barbara Delores Jackson Gordon of North Charleston entered into the arms of the Lord on July 31, 2013 surrounded by her family. Barbara was born on January 23, 19??, to the late Julian Travis and Mattie Jackson in Dillon, SC. She graduated from Dillon High School and later attended cosmetology school and was awarded a cosmetology license. She owned and operated Barbara's Beauty Salon in North Charleston for 45 years and had a loyal customer base. She taught Sunday school for many years and was the director of the Sunday school program and Vacation Bible School at Holmes Avenue Baptist Church. She was in charge of the Valentine's Day banquet and Christmas Cantata each year at her church. Her faith, her family and her "Ladies" were the most important things in her life. She loved the beach and no matter what she was doing, her mind and heart was on the beach. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James R. Gordon, Sr.; her son and daughter, James R. Gordon, Jr. (Lauren) and Nesha Gordon-Conlon; her six grand-girls, Brittany "BB", Lauren "Lolly", Ashley, Allison, Danielle "DD", and Michaela; and two grand-boys, Braden and Jackson; and her siblings, Sara Anderson, Jimmy Jackson, Patricia "Trick" Townsend, and Emily Lee. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, William "Bill" Vincent Gordon, Jr. and his two children, William "Vince" Vincent Gordon, III (Darlene) and Kathy Gordon-Harvey. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister, Miriam Daniels; and three brothers, John Jackson, Frankie Jackson and Lavern Jackson. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Visitation for Barbara will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. Funeral service will take place on Sunday, August 4, 2013, 2:00 pm at Holmes Avenue Baptist Church, 4602 Durant Avenue, North Charleston, SC. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate memorials in Barbara's honor be made to Holmes Avenue Baptist Church.
