It's been 9 years yesterday and I still miss like you just left. I love you son.

Gina & family, I just found out about your Baines & I want you to know I have been there & am here for you. There is no greater pain but with faith, time & love it will slowly become a part of you but will not feel so consuming. There are no words but if I can help in any way, please know we're here. We are holding you all up & love you.

When we first moved into the neighborhood our boys were a little shy, but one day Baines saw them outside and came over and played a few games of hoops with them. It really made them feel welcome and special to have a "big kid" who was willing to spend time with them.

Baines was truly a special young man, so responsible and kind. Craig and I will never forget that and our family is better for having known him touch our lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you both and Andrew.

To the entire Lathbury family my prayers are with you. As a mother/parent I grieve for your loss. Words have failed me but my heart is with you. I am praying for your peace and healing.

He was that gentle, older, cool kid who spent just a little time with Pri at OQuinn, but it meant the world to Pri and he will always remember that. To the Lathbury family: Wade and I are terribly saddened for the loss of Baines. May God be with you all in every step of your grief. The entire community of James Island is praying for your family in hopes that you find peace and happiness again.

I have never told this story to Gina and Sean, but the night of July 4th last year, Baines told me his secret of catching spot tailed bass in shore. I spent thirty minutes with him that night listening and being fascinated with his detailed and very insightful strategy on how to catch those stealthy spots. Not a month later, a buddy and I did exactly what he said to do and I caught the biggest spot tails of my life. That curly headed young man taught me more about fishing for red fish in thirty minutes than I had taught myself in 51 years. Baines is with us now everyday. Sean, Gina and Andrew, rest assured he is in God's embrace now, fishing and catching the fish he always dreamed of, and watching over us all. Thank you for bringing that wonderful young man into this world.
