Audrey Clark Obituary

Audrey Diane Blagburn Clark MT. PLEASANT - Audrey Diane Blagburn Clark, age 76, gained her wings on July 29, 2025, in Charleston, SC, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Decatur, Alabama, on August 5, 1949, daughter of the late Clifton Blagburn and Ruby Stewart. She fell in love and married her beloved husband, Dewey Lynn Clark, in 1964 and started their family. By 1980, they had packed up and moved to Mt. Pleasant, SC, where their ties became deeply rooted within the community. Audrey, known to many as the adored "Granny", had a house that all the kids in the neighborhood flocked to. Her early profession was in-home childcare where she cared for and loved for all that came through as her own. She started her own residential cleaning business and did that for many years. Later in life, she returned to her passion of caring for children while helping with her grandkids and great-grandchildren who always loved a good sleep-over where she would stay up just as late so they weren't by themselves, or ice cream sundae runs after school. She had a deep love for Westerns, especially anything featuring John Wayne, and you could often find her curled up with a good historical romance novel. Most importantly, she will be remembered for her heart of gold. Audrey was always one to do whatever, whenever for whoever. You were always greeted with a smile, a sweet southern phrase, and if lucky enough, a cherished nickname. She loved her family fiercely and deeply and was always going out of her way to make you feel beyond special and spoiled. She never met a stranger; helped others without hesitation, no matter how large or small; and always made everyone feel like family. To know Audrey was to love Audrey and receive just as much love in return. Audrey was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Lynn Clark; sisters, Mary Reynolds and Patricia Evett; her brothers-in-law, Elton Reeves and Andy Andrews; and sister-in-law, Mary Blagburn. She is survived by her dedicated husband of almost sixty-one years, Dewey Lynn Clark; siblings, Sandra Andrews, Linda Reeves and Steve Blagburn; her daughter, Lisa Lynn Clark Kelley (husband, Frank); and son, Christopher Lynn Clark (wife, Brandy). Her amazing legacy lives on through her five grandchildren - Zach Kelley (wife, Jessica), Tyler Howes, Jalen Whitsett Clark, Kellen Waziak, and Zoey Clark - and her two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Olivia Kelley; many nieces, nephews; the countless, "self-adopted" grandchildren and her cat, Marley. Her funeral service will be held Friday, August 1, 2025, in the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel, 1494 Mathis Ferry Rd., at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm also at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. A memorial message may be sent to the family on our website at www.jhenrystuhr.com.
