Arthur Rooney Obituary

I met Authur Rooney for the first time at my great grandma´s (Elizabeth Armstrong) celebration of life, on October 10th, 2022. We sat together and he shared so many beautiful memories about my Nana & their church. I know they are taking care of each other now. I was truly blessed to meet such a sweet soul.

Never ending love he was

We loved Mr. Rooney and his love for the Lord! We have fond memories of him playing his harmonica on the steps as we came in to Sunday School! Such a happy and friendly servant! We celebrate his heavenly homecoming and reunion with his sweetheart Ellen and dear friends who´ve gone before! Sending love and sympathy to his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I was blessed to work with PopPop on Food Service for Homeless for many years.it is precious memories I will hold dear.

I grew up a few doors down from the Rooneys. Had many fun experiences in the outdoors playing with Debbie and Donna. Studied for tests in nursing school with Debbie. I know that your parents are extremely proud of all three of their children. What a wonderful family. I was blessed to have known them all.

To Art´s family:
Please accept our sincere condolences and prayers! Art was my Quarterman in shop 67 during the 60´s and 70´s! He was one of the most loved and cared for supervisors during that time! He was always honest, fair, and understanding to the personnel under his supervision! He helped me many times when I was an acting supervisor before going to Combat systems Office! I am proud to say that I knew him and worked under him! God Bless you all!

He moved and shook people into service and helping others. Some of his jokes were very good. Enjoyed him and am thankful he took moments to share his time with me. Prayers for his family and many friends.

So many fond memories of working with Art at the shipyard. He always had a funny story to tell to brighten the day. Linda Howard

It was our pleasure to know Arthur "PopPop". He always had a twinkle in his eye, his harmonica in his pocket and a smile on his face! Heaven has gained a harmonica player for the heavenly choir!

May you rest in peace and may God bless your family.

My Dad was the greatest and taught me so much over his years modeling his love of God and church, his commitment to his family and friends, his love of travel and spreading joy to others especially with his harmonica, his love of all sports especially golf and the Dodgers, his amazing work ethic and ability to fix almost anything, his love of storytelling and time spent loving his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his fierce independence up until the end. He was my travel buddy always up for our next adventure. We went to Baltimore in 2021 to see all of Debbie’s family and we just finished a 3 week trip to California to see my family of 16 playing one more round of golf and then off to Texas where he was able to see almost all of Artie’s big family. I feel very blessed so many family and friends were able to say their goodbyes to him at the hospital and I was able to hold his hand while singing and praying for him as he left to go join my Mom, the love of his life, in Heaven. I will miss him greatly and give thanks to God knowing he is at peace with all of those who went before and all the saints in Heaven.

I was sorry to read of Art's death. We worked together for a while at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. He was always pleasant and fun to be around. I know that his family will miss him terribly.
