I’m so saddened to hear of the passing of Gene Limehouse. He was my first principal when I had my first teaching position out of college at Alston Middle School in Summerville. Then I moved to Rollings Elementary with him and I taught 5th and 6th grades for 7 years.
He was always so pleasant with a great sense of humor. As someone fresh out of college and a rookie to the teaching profession, I couldn’t have asked for a finer mentor. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Remember Coach Limehouse fondly! Great Coach and Teacher. Although only an 8th Grader at the time, went to all the football games in 1962. Garrett went to the State championship at Easley that year! Good games, Great Coach. Also had Coach as a Math Teacher.

Coach Limehouse was my math teacher at Garrett High in the Sixties. What a wonderful person and teacher he was. Math was my least favorite subject, but he made it bearable. Thank you Coach Limehouse for being there for me, and I'm sure, countless others. Joyce Maye Sarran

Coach Limehouse was a teacher a coach and most of all a friend when you needed him most. I am privileged to have known him and to have worked closely with him on the football and track teams. I will miss him dearly. Class of 64.

Big Gene was a wonderful man. He was a perfect example of a Southern gentleman. He was kind and caring yet tough as steel when need be. I, too, attended Garrett High School. I was fortunate to be chosen to serve as his last assistant principal at Rollings Elementary School. He taught me so many things from doing the perfect shag to what it means to lead quietly but surely. So many of the leadership lessons he taught me enable be to do what I do everyday. Many times I say "Big Gene always said think long, think wrong". His family shared him with so many of us. We loved him and he will be missed.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Coach Limehouse as both a teacher and coach at Garrett High School. He was always a gentleman and was respected by all. He was a great role model, and even as a teacher, he came across to us like a friend. RIP, coach - you had such a positive influence on so many students.

To the family.
Gene Limehouse was a very special person in many of our lives as we went through school and life. A friend to all the students, and those that sought a special counseling he made himself available, no matter the time it may take. A wonderfull individual that was an encourager too many. A special cousin who never forgot his family and the closeness that the Limehouse had , whether a close relative or a distant one, he really knew the meaning of family. I appreciate both and my love is extended to all and may the Blessings of Our Lord and Saviour be with each of you.

Coach Limehouse was one of my favorite teachers of all times. He made learning fun.

although Coach never gave me that 100% mark in the years of math i had with him he was one of my most favorite teachers at Garrett. The best thing he did for me was to put me as tutor to some other students who werent doing as well as he knew they could. Thank you Coach, you are missed.

I was an "office monitor" at Garrett High School, class of 1968, and had the opportunity to be around Coach Limehouse on a daily basis for a couple of years. He always took a personal interest in the students, and had a gift for getting his point across with very few words when a little discipline was in order. He was someone I really looked up to and respected. He made a difference every day. My sincere condolences to his family.

I had the pleasure of playing football and running track for Coach Limehouse from 1959 through 1963 at Garrett High School (class of'63). He took a group of inexperienced football players in 1959 and made us into Lower State Champions in 1962. I will always remember Coach Limehouse as a dedicated coach, teacher, and person who cared for us as athletes and students. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Coach Limehouse.

Gene was one of my very best friends in my entire life. We were in elementary, high school, and college together. Though our paths in life led us to different places of residence, Gene and Mary have always been in my
heart with rich memories of their warmth and generosity.

Coach Limehouse is remarkable in many ways. He said so much by saying so little. He made a lasting positive impact on me and my classmates at Garrett High School ('64). As he walked into the auditorium when he was principal at Rollins, I heard the students exclaim with glee "There's Mr. Limehouse!" He was loved by everyone. We will miss but always remember him.

Coach Limehouse was a great influence on my life at Garrett, class of 1962. I was on the track team, and was there for every game when the Falcons won the 1962 Lower State football championship! I was always remember how he cared for his players and students.
