Arthur "Mike" C. Haney, Jr. N. Charleston - Arthur "Mike" Carl Haney, Jr., 74, of North Charleston, SC, died Sunday, September 10, 2017. His memorial service will be held Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Peachtree Presbyterian Kellett Chapel, 3434 Roswell Road NW, Atlanta, GA at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends at their home date and time to be announced. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL. Mike was born May 21, 1943 in Kearny, NJ, son of the late Arthur C. Haney and the late Kathryn Ruth Hammond Haney. After receiving his BS degree at Florida State University, where he played baseball, he worked as a Federal Narcotics Agent in Atlanta and Philadelphia. Mike was a businessman in Columbia, SC and Rome, GA where he was co-owner of Smith Evans Lumber Company. He was a member of the Jaycees, Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce all of Rome, GA. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Susan T. Haney; daughter, Kelly H. Cobb of Daniel Island, SC; son, Jason M. Haney of Decatur, GA; two grandchildren, Amelia Cobb and Katherine Cobb of Daniel Island, SC; two nieces, Katherine Haney of San Diego, CA and Courtney H. Hillis of Charlotte, NC; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Ann Tabor of Alabaster, AL. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and James Haney. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Family Connection of SC, 1800 St Julian Pl #104, Columbia, SC 29204 and/or Darlington School, 1014 Cave Spring Rd SW, Rome, GA 30161. Dear Susan, Rhett and I are so sad to hear of Mike's passing. I have such great memories of the times we were friends at Druid Hills and the times we were able to get together in Columbia.
