Dr. Arthur Lee Evans ORANGEBURG, SC - Funeral services for Dr. Arthur Lee Evans, 84, will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, January 8, 2016 at The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 1606 Russell St., with entombment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens. Reverend Michael W. Sheedy, Rev. Joseph Greene and Rev. Dr. James Gallant are officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Episcopal Church Men's Fellowship Organization, 1170 Watson St., Orangeburg, SC. Dr. Evans departed this life on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at PruittHealth Therapy Services after an extended illness. He was born in Macon, GA and was the youngest son of the late Clifford and Fannie B. Evans of Macon, GA. Dr. Evans formerly served as professor of Music/Chairman of the Department of Music and Choir Director at SCSU. Surviving are his wife, Hattie Fears Evans; son, Ivan Hugh (Frances) Evans; grandson, Leonides Maximus Evans of Orangeburg, SC; brother, Benjamin (Lillie G.) Evans, Macon, GA; brother-in-law, John Warren (Lillian) Fears, Tuskegee, AL; cousin, Danny Danielle'; and a host of other relatives and friends, including a "Special" Caregiver-Joanne Barnes. Friends may call at the home of his wife, Mrs. Hattie Evans, 449 Meadowlark Dr., Orangeburg or Simmons Funeral Home, Orangeburg. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Simmons Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
