Arthur Dille Obituary

Arthur Dille SUMMERVILLE - Arthur Jay Dille, 71, of Summerville, husband of Kazuko Hirata Dille died Tuesday, October 19, 2010, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 10 o'clock at Plantation Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner. Friends may call at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening. Mr. Dille was born November 30, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio, son of the late Harold John Dille and Virginia Frost Dille. He attended schools in Toledo, Ohio. He was a 20 year veteran of the United States Navy. He spent most of his career serving in the Pacific region, proudly serving 3 tours in Vietnam. He taught at the fire fighting school in Charleston, and closed out his career in the Mediterranean region. He also retired from Bayer Chemical as Maintenance Supervisor. His three grandchildren were his pride and joy. Surviving in addition to his wife are: one son: James Dille and his wife Kathleen of Charleston, two grandsons: Stephen F. Dille and Tucker C. Dille both of Charleston and one granddaughter: Hannah G. Dille of Charleston, one brother: John Dille and his wife Terri, two sisters: Judith C. Speweike, and Kathleen A. Larabee and her husband Richard, all of Toledo, Ohio, cousin: Candace Renner of Toledo, Ohio as well as many loved nieces and nephews. The family would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Life Care Center of Charleston, and the Charleston Cancer Center for the respect, care and love shown to Arthur during his illness. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made in memory of Arthur J. Dille to The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org, or to the charity of one's choice.
