Arowanna Carroll Obituary

CARROLL, Arowanna Arowanna "Bo" Carroll was born on August 1, 1929, in Buckhannon, WV, and passed away on April 2, 2009, in Jerusalem, Israel, while on tour there. Bo was a beautiful person in so many ways and to know her was to love her. Her very presence melted harshness and her smile was disarming. She loved bowling, taking care of her flower and being with her friends. Her love of people led her to many volunteer undertakings and was always giving of herself for the well being of others. She will be remembered for her kindness and gentle nature. She is survived by her husband, T.M. Carroll, Minister Emeritus of the First Christian Church of Gurnee, IL, and former minister of the First Christian Church of Charleston from 1968-1973; one daughter, Stephaney MacLeod of Trophy Club, TX; one son, William Boykin of Indiatlantic, FL; two grandchildren, Megan MacLeod and Matthew MacLeod; one sister, Gail of West Virginia; several nieces and nephews; four step-children, Phil Carroll, John Carroll, Paul Carroll and Andrew Carroll; and nine step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Arnold; two sisters, Lahoma and Irene; and her former husband, Frank Boykin. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Christian Church, 1293 Orange Grove Road, Charleston, SC 29407. The immediate family will begin greeting guests at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the church. To have known Bo for so many years has been a blessing beyond measure. She has always been a model to me of what a truly gracious woman can be and hope that I can carry on, in some small way, the grace she has shown to each of us who has loved her.

So sorry to hear about your Mom's death. She must have been doing great til the end and enjoying this life.

Billy and Stephanie, I am saddened to hear about Bo. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She was a wonderful, loving and caring person, a great mother to both of you and I am better for having known her. Although we will miss her physically, there is some peace and comfort in knowing that she is with the Lord and that we will see her again in heaven. God Bless you both. Love Karin
