I was a member of the Roche institute of Molecular Biology (RIMB) and Chairman of Biochemistry prior to moving to the University of California Los Angeles. During my 20 year tenure in the RIMB, I had the great pleasure of interacting with Arnie Liebman scientifically and professionally. Arnie was a superb chemist and a fine human being with an excellent sense of humor. Our collaboration is one of the best things I remember about my years at RIMB.

Dear Bev,

Carol and I were very sad to read of Arnie's death.

Although Arnie was my "boss" at Roche, he was never "bossy". In fact, he treated all the members of the Isotope Group as friends. It was a pleasure to work with him.

The friendship extended into retirement years, and we remember with pleasure our visits with you and Arnie on Kiawah Island and in Charlottesville.

We hope you will keep the best memories foremost in the years ahead.

Best wishes,

Ron Kaback

Dear Bev:

I am very sorry to learn of Arnie's death. Although we saw each other only occasionally once I moved to UCLA, I shall always remember how great it was to work with him. I still tell stories about my buddy, the Head of the Isotope Synthesis Group at Roche, who would synthesize any radioactive compound I could think up for my research. Some of these even turned out to be important.

Arnie was a chemist's chemist, as well as a guy who loved a good joke; he was truly a mensch, and he will be sorely missed.

I send my most heartfelt sympathy to you and the family

Dear Beverly and Family

We are deeply sad and we are sorry that it would not be possible to meet with Arnie any more. We know how much Arnie was a positive, full of love and a calm person with such a beautiful smile on his face.
For the four of us meeting with you and Arnie on Kiawah, was like meeting with our family. We will always keep the great memories of the time spent togehter in our hearts.
We will try to visit you Beverly and, if by chance, you decide to travel to Europe, please let us know.

With love,

Serenella, Urs, Leila & Norman

Dear Bev and Family,
Bob and I were terribly saddened to hear of Arnie's passing. Although it's been several years since we've gotten together, we always treasured your visits. I especially enjoyed Arnie's stories and appreciated his expert bridge lessons.
I remember his patience, his sensitivity, his love of family and his dedication to his profession.
I am deeply empathetic to your/our loss of a loving husband, father and friend.
Love,
Barbara and Bob Sanders
