Arike M. Blakely Sr. MONCKS CORNER - Arike McGill Blakely, Sr., 79, of Moncks Corner, SC, a retired laborer for the South Carolina Department of Transportation, died Saturday afternoon in a Charleston hospital. His funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, September 25, 2013, in the Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in Halfway Creek Cemetery, Shulerville, directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday evening. Mr. Blakely was born April 30, 1934, in Honey Hill, SC, a son of Willie Blakely and Lou Eugina Potter Blakely. He attended the Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was a US Army National Guard veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Blakely also enjoyed fishing, eating breakfast with his friends at local restaurants, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by a son, Brian L. Blakely. Surviving are, his wife, Annie Blakeley Blakely; a daughter, Candace "Candy" Hartley of Moncks Corner; a son, Arike Blakely, Jr., of North Charleston; a brother, John Blakely of St. Stephen; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
