This photo displays Archie as I remember him-smiling and joke to lift your spirits. But ,,,when responding to an occurrence ,he was quick, seriouly focused and smoothly patient with everyone . Miss a truly good soul. Hope his family feel his presence always but strongly on his Birthday.

Just found out Archie passed away. I worked with him at the Institute of Psychiatry. I retired in 2018 and lost touch. He was wonderful to work with and loved deeply. He always "had your back". Sending my deepest sympathy and prayers to his family. May God Bless.

I was just talking with an old coworker and friend about Archie days ago. It’s been years since we both worked at MUSC, but Archie was the kind of person you remember. Always kind, always reliable, just a solid human being with a bright smile. We all loved him. We knew any situation would be handled safely, respectfully, and with compassion. Archie was the kind of person that you just felt better when he was around. He will be greatly missed by everyone lucky enough to have known him.

Archie, my heart breaks. You were one of a kind. When I met you many, many years ago in IOP, I would have never thought that we would end up friends. Thanks for the many years of friendship and laughs. There were days when I was feeling down and you always had a way to make me smile. Thank you for bringing so much joy to so many people. My heart and prayers go out to the Reid family. I pray that God gives you continuous comfort.

I was thinking about Archie today and wanted to add a note, I was on a Committee with him and each meeting as we introduced ourselves, Archie sometimes introduced himself "Denzel Washington" with a small smile and twinkle...which made me laugh Every time! He often made us laugh on the unit, even Donna Green as she was working away.I'm sure Donna knows he likes to work and will give him an assignment when she greets him. Humor is good for the Soul as he knew. This was Archie.

I first met Archie at CAFB when he was the First Sergeant of Civil Engineering Squadron. He was always friendly and devoted in his job. Later, I encountered him at MUSC during my husband's many visits there. He always was very helpful when I was there late and asked how we were doing. A gracious and comforting man.

To My Brother In Christ, Deacon Archie L. Reid.
The Lord blessed you into my presence on a cool October day.
With a pleasant smile, you asked, how are you doing today.
But now the time has come to say goodbye, something that is hard for me to say.
With your kindness, you touched my heart inside.
I will truly miss that smile that you had, that was so bright and wide.
I was blessed to watch your walk in Christ, every day.
I know it's God's “Perfect Will” that He has called you home, this past Sunday.
Down in my heart, from here to the sky.
You are taking steps, with wings to fly.
My Brother, I am so proud of all that you are.
And you will always be our spiritual shining star.
Your last day at God’s Faithful Servant, is finally here.
I know everyone is sad, which is perfectly clear.
My Big Brother, I'm not good at saying goodbye's and you know why.
But it's time to spread your precious wings, because it's time to fly. Forever Your Brother In Christ And Friend.
Deacon James “JB” Brown. (Former Co-Worker, MUSC, Hospital Safety And Security).

I had the pleasure of working with Archie for years before I retired from MUSC Psychiatry. He was a professional colleague and a friend. My husband worked for Berkeley County Schools and we would always talk about football, Berkeley County characters and have great laughs. He was a consummate professional, took great care of his people at work and kept us safe, was so caring, and had a great sense of humor.
Godspeed sir, you will be welcomed honorably at Heaven’s Door.

Where do I begin?? Mr. Archie was "the man" at MUSC as he was a supervisor for the Public Safety Department. Mr. Archie had a stern look, but professional and more importantly a man of God! When my mother transitioned he and his team gave me a card, and the smile he gave..that is one thing that Mr. Archie wore regardless made my day! I was so hurt and couldn't concentrate for the remainder of yesterday as I received the news of his transition. Mr. Archie was truly missed walking the halls and units of IOP after his retirement....the hospital hallways period! When he wore his uniform, he wore it with honor and knowing that he had a job to do! I could only imagine the reunion of his spouse and his sons, ( and remained strong with his relationship with God!) as well as his ...parents. Well Mr. Archie..as you would say to me when entering the unit when you were needed..."Trouble I know you did it!!" You have a new address, a new uniform, and a new badge to wear! Go and take y our rest!!! You will truly, truly be missed! To his children, family members...Mr. Archie was loved!!!! To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord! Servant of God....well done!
