Dear Wayne - Peter Eaton just called to give us the news that Archie had died two weeks ago. I can still bring up images of him at St. Paul's - doing remarkable things on the hockey rink, the baseball field, and in the hundred yard dash - I never could tell who was doing what in football. It was delightful, years after those impressions of an awestruck new boy, to gain him as a good friend as well as a very tough paddle tennis partner. Gael and I are glad that we had the chance to see him once more at Yeamans last year. It is too bad that he can't read the obituary that I assume you wrote - he would have loved its humor. Our very best to you and to your children - Fred and Gael Gardner

Mr. Douglas (or Archie as you both so often asked me to call him) will be terribly missed in the office. A wonderful man and fighter against all obstacles that life put in his path. An example to all. He will be remembered time and time again when I discuss his disease with others and how much one can accomplish and enjoy despite handicaps. You are both in my heart and prayers.

Wayne and family-right on. Archie's unique personality has been captured right down his his torturing of the poor fish in the Adirondacks. He lived a vibrant life and was a good friend, bonded by Yale hockey. So sorry about his passing, condolences to all, Ashley and Hoyt

Dear Family,
Archie was a great boss and my years at Wite-Out, were as Archie said "Golden years". I shall always think of Archie fondly, as he had a noble character, rewarded initiative, and possessed a remarkable intelligence and sensitivity
that was unforgettable. I will miss him,
but he was a great teacher in his own way and the lessons I learned by working with him are the most valuable gifts one can receive. He is no doubt fishing in the spirit world.
