Antoinette Sanders Obituary

Antoinette Griner Sanders YONGES ISLAND - Antoinette Griner Sanders, 98, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 following a three year battle after suffering a stroke. She was born on Yonges Island on August 4, 1911 and was the daughter of John Franklin Griner and Marie Kulinski Griner. Surviving are her two daughters, Anne Sanders Groover and her husband Larry of Yonges Island and Carol Sanders Dailey of Charleston, 3 grandsons: Charles L. Groover, III and his wife Krista of James Island, Steven Joseph Hartage and his wife Irene of North Charleston and Keith Daniel White of Hanahan and 2 great-grandchildren: Michaela Clare McNamara and Johnathon Ashley Groover both of James Island. She was predeceased by her husband, John Samuel Sanders and 2 daughters: Marie Cynthia Sanders and Donna Sanders White. She was also predeceased by her brother John Franklin Groover only six months after losing her husband. She was the owner of Sanders Motor Company and Ford Dealership in Hollywood for many years after the death of her husband; Sammy died tragically in an auto accident in 1957. Net, as she was affectionately called, graduated from St. Paul's High School and Winthrop College. She was very active in community affairs and served as president of St. Paul's Garden Club, The Ladies Exchange Auxiliary where she enjoyed serving many suppers for the Exchange Club. She was an active member at St. Mary's Catholic Church and served as President and Treasurer of St. Mary's After Society. Net devoted her life to her children and their close friends. She loved people and welcomed friends with open arms; a second mother to many. She really had her priorities in order; God, family and friends. Our heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice and her caregivers; Evelyn Scott and Mary Mullinax. We invite you to attend her funeral service at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Yonges Island on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 2 o'clock. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Meggett. Friends may visit at James A. Dyal Funeral Home, Summerville from 6 until 8 o'clock this evening. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to: St. Mary's Catholic Church or St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
