Anthony Berra Obituary

BERRA, JR., Anthony Anthony Burton Berra, Jr. 82, of Summerville, husband of Della Shultz Berra died Monday evening, December 19, 2005 at Heartland Healthcare Center of Charleston. A memorial mass will be held Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 9 o'clock at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Lowcountry Alzheimers Association, PO Box 80459, Charleston, SC 29416. Mr. Berra was born February 24, 1923 in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Anthony Burton Berra, Sr. and Anna Troutner Berra. He was a graduate of William Penn High School, York, Pennsylvania. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving in the South Pacific World War II where he was injured in the invasion of Guam receiving the Purple Heart Medal. He retired as a manufacturing engineer with General Electric and was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are: one daughter, Diane Berra of Portland, Maine; one son: Anthony B. Berra, III and his wife Stephanie of Derry, New Hampshire; two grandchildren: Alexander and Andrew Berra both of Derry, New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews; one brother: Harold Berra of York, Pennsylvania; one sister: June Jones of York, Pennsylvania.
