Annette Dwight Obituary

Annette Blanton Dwight BAMBERG, SC - Mrs. Dwight was born September 25, 1940, the daughter of the late John Bonner Blanton and Sarah McDaniel Blanton. She was a graduate of North Greenville College and Carson Newman College with a BA degree in music. Wanting to spread her love for music, she maintained a private piano studio in Bamberg for over fifty years. She was a member of the Hall of Fame in the National Guild of Piano Teachers and chairman of the Bamberg Guild Audition Center since 1963. She also was a member and past three-term president of Apollo Music club, past state president of South Carolina Federation of Music Clubs, past board member and executive committee member of National Federation of Music Clubs. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gama, and the International Society for Key Women Educators. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Bamberg, where she served as choir director, pianist, and choir accompanist for many years. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Dr. F. Marion Dwight of Bamberg; one brother, Wendell (Nina) Blanton of Columbia; also two children and five stepchildren- daughter, Pamela (Jay) Connor of Branchville, son, Sid Zemp of Charleston, SC (Melanie Lambert of St. Matthews), Sylvia Dwight Folk of Charleston, SC, Harriet Dwight Ling of Pittsboro, NC, Marion (Joyce) Dwight IV, of Bamberg, Polly (Matt) Dwight Freeman of Hillsborough, NC, and Lucy (Rob) Dwight Metcalf of Denver, CO. Grandchildren- Sidney (Chip) Zemp IV; Savannah, Rebecca and John Connor; Daniel and Rachel Folk; Marshal and Dakota Ling; April Bigham; Rion Dwight; Lindsey and Bailey Freeman; Sam Metcalf; great-grandchildren, Landon Folk, Decklan Folk and Zoey Zemp; two nephews, David (Alison) Blanton of Cartersville, GA; John (Hannah) Blanton of Nashville, TN. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 14, 2015 at the Bamberg First Baptist Church with burial to follow at the Bamberg County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bamberg First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to Apollo Music Club, 847 Pine Street, Bamberg, SC 29003 or First Baptist Church, PO Box 355, Bamberg, SC 29003.
