Annette Dopson Obituary

Annette Dopson SUMMERVILLE - Annette Knight Dopson, 86, was called home to the Lord on Friday, June 2, 2023 in her hometown of Knightsville, SC after a well fought battle with Parkinson's. The relatives and friends of Annette Dopson are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 12 Noon, Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Parks Funeral Home Chapel, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Entombment will be private. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Knightsville Methodist Church in Summerville, SC. Born April 10, 1937 to Clausen E. and Eva Hutson Knight. Annette, a quintessential southern lady, was a friend to all who knew her, served her tea cold and sweet with a smile. She and her husband raised two children, Sheila and Jaimie, in Holly Hill, SC. She married James L. Dopson, and they moved back to Knightsville, SC, where they enjoyed horseback riding, traveling and good southern food. Annette graduated Summerville High School and was a member of Knightsville Methodist Church and Crossroads Community Church and served every pot luck dish with charm and style. The simplest pleasures in life brought her great joy. Bless her heart, she had a southern adage for every situation. She loved cooking, gardening, sewing, shopping, talking on the phone, and a good laugh over tea with friends. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Sheila Shepard and her husband, Mike; her sisters, Geraldine Craven and Betty Jean Varner. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clausen E. and Eva Knight; her sister, Lillian Sweat; her brothers, Randolph Knight, Clausen E. Knight, Jr. and Edmond Knight; her husband, James Dopson and her son, Jaimie Dopson. The family wishes to thank Sarah Alston, Win Graham, Barbara Young, and Elaine Doctor for their tireless dedication and endless love in caring for Annette, allowing her to stay in the comfort of her home. Annette and I attended the same church for many years, Crossroads Community Church. She sat nearly directly across the aisle from me. We often shared smiles and hugs, if not that, then our eyes would meet and she would give me a very dainty wave, not drawing attention to herself. She was the epitome of style and grace, impeccably dressed and perfectly coiffed. She was the most kind, gentle and and gracious lady. I admired her greatly. I was saddened to learn of her illness, and concerned when I no longer saw her at church. But, I am rejoicing now with so many other friends knowing she is being held in the arm of Jesus, our Savior. She is completely healed.

Annette went to my church, Crossroads Community Church, until a number of years ago. She sat across the aisle, just about straight across from me. We often shared smiles and a hug. She was the epitome of a grand lady, impeccable hair and dress. She carried herself with elegant style and grace; such a beautiful, kind and gentle woman. Always gracious and sweet, we at least shared a glance and a dainty wave in acknowledgement of each other. I was saddened when I heard of her illness. But, I´m rejoicing with so many other fellow Christians knowing she is in the arms of Jesus now, completely healed!

Mrs. Dopson was a long customer of mine at the bank. We all loved waiting on her and she was a very caring lady, always treated us girls like we were family. She will truly be missed.
