Anne Michau Obituary

Anne M. Henson Michau LADSON - Anne Michau, 91, of Ladson, SC, quietly passed at home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Viewing will be held on Friday, May 11th at Simplicity Lowcountry Cremation & Burial Service 281 Treeland Dr., Ladson SC 29456. between 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 12th at Calvary Baptist Church, 4744 Hwy 165, South, Meggett, SC 29449, between 10:30am-12pm. Anne was born May 31, 1926, in Birmingham, AL, daughter of the late Carlysle McCoy Crisp Henson and Hazel Marie Dillon Henson. She is survived by: one brother, Dan Henson of Cary, NC; two sisters - Jean Beatty of Hollywood, SC and Barbara Brenneman of Dolan Springs, AZ; two sons - Emory Michau of N. Charleston; and David Michau of Ladson; five daughters - Martha Taub (David) of Richboro, PA, Kathleen Michau, Elizabeth Masse; (Gaetan) of Ladson, Nancy Michau and Gayle Balasa of Summerville; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Emory A. Michau; brother Bill Henson; sisters Mary C. Harper and Edna J. Oliver Bielen and twin sons James and John Michau. In addition to raising her large family, Anne worked as a seamstress at Manhattan Shirt Co, and Levi Straus, and the Citadel Museum where she maintained and restored artifacts. She continued her career as a seamstress at the Citadel Taylor Shop. In 1994, she retired to help care for her newborn granddaughter. Outside of her employment, Anne made various large hand-sewn flags and hand-made the five original Spoleto banners. Anne cherished her family and she will be dearly missed by all.
