Anne McAllister Obituary

McALLISTER, Anne PINEWOOD Anne C. McAllister, 86, of Pinewood, moved to her eternal home on November 20, 2008. She was the widow of Luther H. McAllister, Sr. Mrs. McAllister was born July 26, 1922 in Lee County, the daughter of Frank and Bessie Cox. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Horace L. Cox and George E. Cox; a sister, Peggy C. Davis, and a son, Luther H. McAllister Jr., all of Sumter. Two other brothers, Thomas Edward and Franklin Gillis, died in childhood. Survivors include two sisters, Evelyn C. Champey of Sumter and Betty C. Funderburke and her husband Kenney of Summerville; daughter, Gaye M. Holladay and her husband Kermit of Bloomville; son, Gillis F. McAllister and his wife Martha of Summerville; seven grandchildren, granddaughters, Melissa G. Holladay of Manning, Me-Ayn H. Atkinson and her husband Stacy of Bloomville, Megan H. Carter and her husband Chris of Columbia, Mallori K. McAllister of Columbia, grandsons, Patrick G. McAllister of Spartanburg, Ian C. McAllister and Scot F. McAllister of Summerville; and her two great-grandchildren, Brandon Price and Ryan Atkinson of Bloomville. Mrs. McAllister retired from the State Department of Social Services in June of 1987. A memorial service is planned for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008, at Pinewood United Methodist Church. After the service, family and friends are invited to visit with the family at Mrs. McAllister's home at 6080 Panola Road in Pinewood. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday evening at the residence of Kermit and Gaye Holladay, 3886 Brewer Road, Manning. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sumter SPCA Humane Organization, 1140 S. Guignard Drive, Sumter, SC 29150, or to a charity of choice.
