When we began to reorganize The Charleston Library Society, Angie, though not on the Board of Trustees yet, gave us great advice and support. She called me regularly to discuss issues, and always ended our conversations with this admonition: "Hold steady!" She was even better still when she became a trustee.
I admired her hugely.

I will never forget Angie's vibrancy and hospitality. When I first moved to Charleston, Angie invited me to lunch at the Yacht Club so that I could meet other librarians. Throughout the years, I continued to enjoy lively conversations, fascinating collaborations, and family genealogies far more interesting than my own. I was looking forward to continued research about Gippy Plantation. I will miss you, Angie, as a mentor and friend. My thoughts and prayers are with her beloved husband, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, sisters, cousins, other relatives, and Citadel family.

Angie was such an influence on those around her. Her years at UT left an indelible impression. She lit up the room when she entered and vitalized everything she touched. I know without Angie, my life would have been very different. I owe her much.
My condolences to the family -- we are all impoverished by her passing.

Mandy and I are saddened to hear of Angie's passing. Her upbeat spirit, resolute optimism, and intellectual insight made her a unique friend, one whom we could all enjoy by just listening. She was brilliant! Her smile gathered friends in large quantity. Her demeanor could best be described as that of a true southern matriarch - full of vitality, wit, and the perspective of growing up in the proper decorum of the old Charleston we fondly remember. There must be another garden somewhere that is catalogued and attended by the amazing Angie LeClercq!

I was stunned this morning at church to learn of her death.
I really got to know Angie a few years ago when she and I worked together for three years on a very daunting, troublesome "project."
She was a pillar of strength and wisdom, and she regularly called me with messages like: "Don't waver!" "You know what has to be done!" "Be strong!"
I grew very fond of her and admired her for many reasons.
I have lost a friend, and all of us have lost a very fine person.

Fred, family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I think Angie was one of the nicest people I've ever met, always upbeat, always ready to talk. I knew I hadn't seen either one of you this summer, but had no idea anyone was ill. Angie will be surely and sorely missed.
