Anne Clement Obituary

Anne Hagood Roberts Clement JAMES ISLAND - Anne Hagood Roberts Clement, 84, of Wappoo Hall, James Island, wife of Samuel Mortimer Clement, Jr., died Monday, August 1, 2016, at her residence. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, 10:30 AM, graveside, at St. James Parish Churchyard, 1872 Camp Road, James Island. The Reverend Canon James Clement, officiating; The Venerable Calhoun Walpole, assisting. A reception will follow at the residence on Old Point Road. Mrs. Clement was born March 16, 1932, in the City of Charleston, SC, daughter of Helen Irene Rudloff Roberts and James Richardson Roberts. She attended local primary and secondary schools, as well as Rice Business College and Weston School of Music. Her joy was singing in the choirs of St. James and St. Michaels Episcopal Churches for several decades. Along with music, her interest lay in Christian education, especially enjoying that special place called Kanuga. She was a Communicant of Grace Church Cathedral, Charleston. Mrs. Clement was grateful for her life in the Low Country with her husband, water skiing and sailing with their children, Folly Beach, family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Clement recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. She was predeceased by her brother, James R. Roberts of Maryland. In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, Samuel M. Clement III, of Denver, CO, and the Revd. Cn. James M. Clement, of Peoria, IL; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Boardman, of Lake City, FL, and Mrs. Helen C. Bagwell, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; a son-in-law, Lt. Col. (Retired, USAF) Charles H. Boardman; six grandchildren, Cecelia A. Clement, Samuel M. Clement IV, Vincent B. Clement, Sarah B. Samson, Charles H. Boardman V, and Elizabeth F. Bagwell; three great-grandchildren, Samuel M. Clement V, Audry A. Robertson, and William H. Samson; a brother, James I. Roberts of Washington, GA; a niece and two nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
