Anna Chrysostom Obituary

Anna Nicola Chrysostom CHARLESTON - Anna Nicola Chrysostom entered into eternal rest on August 15, 2018, on the day of the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, to whom Anna devoted and dedicated her life. She is preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Augustine Chrysostom. Relatives and friends of Anna Chrysostom are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday, August 20, 2018 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Race St, at 11am. Interment will follow at the Greek Cemetery. Friends may call at the church between 5:00pm and 7:00pm, Sunday, August 19, 2018. A Trisagion service will be held at 6:00pm. Anna was born on January 27, 1927 in Yialousa, Cyprus to George and Panayota Diacou. She was the youngest of 3 children, who preceded her in death. In 1955 Anna relocated from Cyprus to England with her cousins assuming work in a factory. She was later sent to NC to train other workers, and remained at the request of her employer. Anna devoted her life to Christ, prayed religiously to the Theotokos, and found great joy in her church family at the Greek Orthodox Church. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was fiercely loyal, direct, strong-willed, and always took care of others. Her favorite past-time of late was playing with her great-grandson, her laughter and smile lighting up the room. She enjoyed entertaining and spending time with friends and family, always longing to feel connected to others. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, whether it be for friends, family or the church, listening to music, and watching wrestling. She is survived by her daughter: Maria (David) Wilkes of Charleston; granddaughter: Kaitlin (Ralph) Jones; great-grandson: Ralph Wilkes Jones; and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews in both the US and Cyprus.
