Ann Malia Obituary

Ann Rabb Malia Charleston - Ann Rabb Malia, 84, of Charleston, South Carolina, widow of the late Gerald Joseph Malia, entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 17, 2020. Her private Memorial Service will be held Monday, December 21, 2020 in Old St. Andrew's Parish Church with a Funeral Service to be held at Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Downtown Chapel. Ann was born February 4, 1936 in Columbia, SC, daughter of the late Jonathan Rabb and Ethel Blume Rabb. She attended the College of Charleston where she played Varsity Basketball. She worked as a Secretary at the Medical University of South Carolina from 1956 to 1980 and then went on to serve as an Office Manager at Ophthalmology Consultants. She retired in 1992 and moved to Melbourne, Florida. She returned to Charleston to spend many wonderful years surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of St. Andrew's Parish Church and enjoyed attending the Elks Club and the Rifle Club with Granddaddy. She found joy in good times spent with those she loved. Our beloved matriarch taught us all how to cook with love, host with ease, give with passion, shop for days, and love unconditionally. She enjoyed the fine things in life - sparkles, spirits, and fur - and treasured the most important - family, friendship, and faith. Life was her party and she was always dressed to impress and ready to dance. Christmas was her favorite holiday and being together was of ultimate importance. She lost her partner, Jerry, just five months ago. This Christmas, there is peace in knowing they are united. Known to our family as "Grandmommy," Ann is survived by her two daughters; Allison Miles Norton, and Jeanne Rabb Livingston (Bubba) both of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Tyler Norton, Britton Tucker (Harper), Cal Livingston (Mandy) and Trey Livingston (Sarah) and five great-grandchildren. As a survivor of breast and lung cancer, it was her wish that in lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society of Charleston, SC. I am blessed more than words can express by knowing Ann. She is and will always have a place in my heart. As I think of Ann, I remember her zeal and delightful way about herself as she entered a room. My love goes out to her family on her anniversary of her passing. Peace

So saddened by the news of Ann's death. What a shock! I think she was just here in Bridge Dept of Dillards shopping. She was always a delight to work with. So high style and fun!

She will be missed. I know she missed her husband and is enjoying his companionship again.

Sending my deepest sympathy's to Jeanne and Allison on the loss of one amazing woman. Your mom was a cherished friend and I loved very much. We shared many ups and downs these last 30+ years. Well we were miles apart these last year's, that never stopped us from keeping in touch. She will be greatly missed. I am rejoicing with you knowing she is with Gerald and Bill walking on streets of gold. I will be praying you through as you celebrate her incredible life.

I´m heartbroken Ann is gone. She was a great wife , mother and grandmother. She was also a friend, even though we hung out a brief time, I loved her wit, sense of humor and her laugh. She always had a joke to share and always the best comebacks! I will miss those times with her. Prayers and love to Allison and her family at this very sad time.
