Ann Gatlin Obituary

Ann Gatlin Goose Creek - Ann Peagler Gatlin, 84, of Goose Creek, SC, entered into eternal rest Sunday morning, December 20, 2020, in a North Charleston hospital. Her funeral will be 2:00 PM Wednesday afternoon, December 23, 2020, in the Moncks Corner Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, directed by DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 PM until the hour of service on Wednesday. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3336 N. Highway 17-A, Bonneau, SC 29431. Mrs. Gatlin was born June 12, 1936, in Cross, SC, a daughter of the late Walter Russell Peagler and Marie Weatherford Peagler. She was the essence of a classy, Christian, southern woman. Growing up as a shopkeeper's daughter, she never met a stranger. Mrs. Gatlin was an avid reader and Valedictorian of the Cross High School Class of 1955. She met the love of her life, Dennis Gatlin, at church in their teenage years. They married on April 20, 1957, and devoted their lives to the Lord, each other, and to their children. They moved to Goose Creek in 1963 and built a beautiful brick home surrounded by trees, gardenias, camellias, and azaleas. Dedicated in her faith, Mrs. Gatlin taught many young children and teenagers Sunday school at Ashley Heights Pentecostal Holiness Church for years. Children loved her class so much they didn't want to leave! Mrs. Gatlin loved to travel with her husband on work trips for the Charleston Naval Shipyard, as well as to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN, Brunswick, GA, and Edisto Beach. She also attended Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church in Jamestown for almost 30 years.People loved to talk to Mrs. Gatlin as she was a good listener and brought comfort to them. She treasured time with her family and friends, and loved and prayed unconditionally. Mrs. Gatlin enjoyed singing hymns and playing the piano, and she also liked to watch Clemson football while reminiscing about old times, and savoring white chocolate Reese's cups and ice cream. Mrs. Gatlin made so many lives sweeter and brighter, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving in addition to her husband are, a son Dennis W. Gatlin and his wife, Esther, of Cross; a daughter, Dianne Y. Riggs and her husband, Chuck, of Goose Creek; a brother, Russell Peagler and his wife, Patty, of Cross; a brother-in-law, Clarence Abner Gatlin and his wife, Janie, of Hanahan; a sister-in-law, Pat Worrell of Hanahan; and her three grandchildren who her pride and joy were wrapped up in, Jessica Riggs and Justin Riggs both of Goose Creek, and Reese Gatlin of Cross.
